Printer Troubleshooting

Solutions for common printer issues.

Printer Won't Connect

Check the Basics

  • [ ] Printer is powered on
  • [ ] Printer battery is charged (if battery powered)
  • [ ] iPad Bluetooth is enabled
  • [ ] Printer is in pairing mode

Reset Connection

  1. Go to iPad Settings > Bluetooth
  2. Find your printer
  3. Tap the (i) icon
  4. Tap Forget This Device
  5. Restart your printer
  6. Re-pair in EetEet app

Printer Already Paired Elsewhere

If the printer was used with another device:

  1. Unpair from the other device first
  2. Reset the printer (check manual)
  3. Try pairing again

Nothing Prints

Check Connection

  1. Go to Settings > Printer
  2. Verify status shows "Connected"
  3. If disconnected, tap Reconnect

Check Paper

  • Is paper loaded correctly?
  • Is there a paper jam?
  • Is the paper roll inserted with print side up?

Test Print

  1. Go to Settings > Printer
  2. Tap Test Print
  3. If test fails, troubleshoot connection
  4. If test works, check auto-print settings

Faded or Light Print

  • Paper may be inserted wrong (wrong side up)
  • Print head may need cleaning
  • Low battery (if battery powered)

Blank or Missing Sections

  • Paper jam
  • Print head issue
  • Incompatible paper

Garbled Text

  • Restart the printer
  • Check printer compatibility
  • Update printer firmware

Auto-Print Not Working

Check Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Printer > Auto-Print
  2. Make sure it's enabled
  3. Check what's set to auto-print

Check Connection

Auto-print requires an active connection. If printer sleeps:

  1. Reconnect the printer
  2. Adjust printer sleep settings (in printer's own settings)

Check Notifications

Auto-print needs notification permission:

  1. iPad Settings > EetEet Vendor > Notifications
  2. Ensure notifications are allowed

Printer Keeps Disconnecting

Range Issues

  • Stay within 30 feet of printer
  • Remove obstacles between iPad and printer

Interference

  • Other Bluetooth devices may interfere
  • Move away from microwaves, wireless routers

Power Management

  1. Disable printer sleep mode if possible
  2. Keep printer plugged in (not battery)

Printer Specific Issues

Star TSP Series

  • Make sure "iOS" mode is enabled
  • Check DIP switch settings

Epson TM Series

  • Enable Bluetooth in printer settings
  • May need Epson app for initial setup

Generic Printers

  • Ensure ESC/POS compatibility
  • May have limited feature support

Contact us if:

  • You've tried all troubleshooting steps
  • Printer works with other apps but not EetEet
  • Error messages appear
